The Summer Market

Summer Market 007This past weekend, we were happy to be part of the 10th Annual Summer Market in Avon Lake.

The Market is a unique antique, vintage and craft goods festival and benefit held along the shores of Lake Erie.

Market-goers shopped for furniture, jewelry, art, antiques, fresh produce, and, of course, honey and yarn. There was live music and plenty of food trucks. I’d go anyplace as long as a good food truck is in attendance!

Summer Market 015The day was hot but the breeze off the lake made it pleasant. As pretty an Ohio summer day as you could ask for.

Be sure to put this show on your calendar for next year. It really is a can’t-miss event. We plan to be back.

A Summer Day at the Farm

Some days are just prettier than others.

Today was one of those days. Today was a day to be spent outdoors.

Raphael, my favorite goat (and yes, it is possible to have a favorite goat), was enjoying his day in the pasture. In honor of this not-too-hot-not-too-cold day, we did bring him a few leaves from a near-by tree as a special treat. He thanked us by not head-butting. Much appreciated.

The flowers by the pond were in full bloom. We’ve had so much rain this season they should be in full bloom! Heck, they should be blooming all over the place.

And several alpacas decided to act as greeters when we entered the barn. Now really, can a day be bad if two alpacas make it their personal mission to greet you?

Summer can sometimes be sticky hot and miserable. But today was as perfect a summer day as you can order.

A Cria is Born at That’ll Do Farm

Meet the newest baby born at That’ll Do Farm. She was born on July 11th and her name is ……

Name the Cria contest
Name the Cria contest

We have no idea what her name is! That’s where you come in. Help us name this little cutie.

Her mother’s name is Bella and her father is MegaBarr. Her granddad was Candy Man.

This year, all crias born on the farm will be given names starting with the letter G.

So, what’s your favorite G name? Any candy names you can think of? Anything that goes with Bella? Anything that fits this sweet little face?

Leave your suggestions below or on the farm’s Facebook page. The contest is open until midnight Wednesday, July 22. In the event more than one person comes up with the winning name, we will pick the first one.

The prize for coming up with the perfect name is a jar of our delicious wildflower honey, a jar of the best homemade lavender laundry soap (also made by us!) and the most comfortable alpaca socks on the planet.

Good luck. Enter as many times as you like. This little girl deserves a name!
